I composed this number way back in the late seventies playing it on my acoustic guitar. When I started to use the Midi Guitar I wanted to do this number. As for the Midi guitar it is "the Roland GR-I midi device you put under the strings and it converts what your playing to the sound you assign it to. You can regulate the sound yourself change a lot of things I call it sound sculpture it took me two months to get the sound right for this number. I also use on my fingers metal banjo picks when I play the Midi as it gives a lot more attack the problem with the Midi device I use is that if it does not recognize the note your playing it gives you what it thinks is right and nearly every time it is wrong. My Midi device must be around 18 years old now so I suppose the new ones most be much better. A great thanks to "Gail Bilyard" who has done all the Video work on this Clip. Hope you enjoy. Nigel.
I Composed this song after driving around the south of France with my late wife and our first two kids.We would stop at a coast town were I would Busk in the bars and restaurants fill up with gas and food and then when the money got low drive to the next town.that was in the Hippy days when everything seemed possible.
This arrangement I made from the Cello score written in G. Unlike most other versions for Guitar that are in D. I try to keep it as much as possible to have the bass notes as on a Cello. It is part of a series of melodies that are on the YouTtube and web site GBS fartherandson. My Son and me are now putting all are Guitar body and Soul videos on line as well as stage performance when ever we can hope you enjoy listening.
